I have norton anti-virus and my computer is slow on boot up should I remove it and what should I rep

Norton is a very good antivirus BUT it does use a lot of resources. I personally use AVG free. It works great and it's free. AVG scans and updates every morning offering better protection than Norton which only scans every friday night. For a firewall, I use ZoneAlarm free version. It works quite well. I think it works better than any Norton firewall or internet security. Both AVG and Zone Alarm use much less resources than Norton does.

If you are experiencing slow startup, go to start then run type in msconfig then press enter. on the configuration utility click on the startup tab and uncheck any unneccessary process that start with windows leaving all system processes, firewalls, and antivirus programs to start. If you are unsure of a process google it to see what it is and if it is essential. Once you have done this click the close button at which point you will be prompted to restart. Upon restart you will be prompted with a message telling you have used the selective startup, check the box that says never show this again and click OK.

Here are the links for AVG and ZoneAlarm

I hope this helps Good Luck
