Limewire used to have a bad reputation - one of carrying some malware. Its been to a detox center and is now completely clean.

Unfortunately some antivirus programs have not acknowledged this change and still consider Limewire persona non grata. Trend Micro may be one of them.

Have you tried temporarily disabling Trend Micro so that you can download and install Limewire? See http://esupport.trendmicro.com/support/v... for instructions on how to do it.

If that doesn't work, another option is to access Limewire's download link through a proxy. A proxy will mangle/change the name of the file being downloaded so that programs like Trend Mirco don't recognize it, and cant prevent you from downloading it.

Go to http://proxy.org, select a proxy server, paste the Limewire link (http://www9.limewire.com/download/LimeWi... in the proxy's URL browse bar and click ''Browse''. The proxy will ask to download a file with a weird, unrecognizable, long name; don't worry, it's Limewire.exe renamed to bypass any problems. Once it's downloaded, just go to your hard disk and rename the weird name to Limewire.exe and execute it.

Since you've posted this question here, I'm assuming that you've tried to configure Trend Micro to accept Limewire as a safe product? I don't know enough about Limewire to confirm if this is indeed supported, but programs like AVG, Norton and McAfee let you do this.
