Which type of anti virus is good for pc?

I love the reasons people give for anti-viruses being the best. *rolleyes*

Things like: ''AVG - it's Free''.

So what if it's free - is it any good? Sadly the answer is no.

So many people now have AVG on their computers and they're all gonna get hit one day soon. The protection offered by this program is seriously lacking - I installed a rival program on a few PCs lately that had AVG, Spybot and Ad-Aware and the new product went on to remove over 30 very serious infections all these three had missed.

I wouldn't touch or trust these programs if I were you...

if your PC is meant for home use, just use AVG Free Edition (obviously, it's free!) Free updates, free services! Perfect for home use since you really don't get to shell out money for expensive products. i've been using it for years now, and it has never let me down...

If you are looking for free.. AVAST is excellent. You should also have an anti spyware; Spybot and Lavasoft Ad-Aware are good, they also have free home user programs
McAfee seems to be the best. I've tried them all and this one caught everything.
avg.. the best is.. its free.
norton antivirus
nortons is crap. use etrust vet from computer associates
You also NEED spyware protection, and a firewall.
