i have windows vista and i am stuck between avg and avast. please help me decide which one i should go with. i heard that after you install avg it is un-unistallable. is that true?

No, it is not true. AVG has less features than avast!, unless you pay. AVG is shareware, so it doesn't have residen't shield unless you pay. Get AVAST! since it will, and you don't have to pay.

I would go with AVG because it works better for me and most of my friends. = )
Either will serve you well, I personally will prefer AVG.
AVG has been my choice for the last 2 PC and 2 laptops.
