Are you sure it isn't just trying to install updates? It does that automatically so it can protect your system from the newest bad crap out there.

Go to the symantec website and download there auto fix tool.
I belive Simantec means - SIMple MANiacle TEChnology

Soz had to voice my opinion.
Is it trying to install or run a scan? Also, make sure there aren'y multiple versions of the program, and the second one is trying to install. It could also be trying to update its antivirus section.
remove it and install it again if u hav a cd with it
are you sure that is already installed?

i think that it's not, but if it is you should uninstall it and reinstall it again.
